The Barker Tavern

21 Barker Rd. / 781-545-6533 / barkertavern.com

This historic tavern, originally dubbed the Williams-Barker House, was built in 1634, and part of the original structure is thought to be the oldest English house in the US! The Barker Tavern opened as a restaurant in 1978 and the Jordan family has owned and operated it ever since.

The Barker Tavern sits on a rise overlooking Scituate Harbor in a location that allows the salty ocean breezes to perfectly mingle with the historic charm of the 17th century building. A red brick walkway lined with fragrant blooms welcomes you and your guests. It’s all part of the “Barker Touch,” that extra care taken by the staff to make sure your event is as special and unique as you’ve always dreamed.

Event Space

This venue offers a choice of 2 different rooms depending on the number of guests. The Williams Room is elegant simplicity at its best with thought given to the contemporary, rustic elements that adorn the space. A large stone fireplace is the focal point of the room, but your eyes are also drawn to the cathedral ceiling with its exposed rafters. Both lend a cozy warmth to the expansive room that can seat up to 200 guests. Natural light streams in through floor to ceiling windows adding to the airy ambiance. The room is complete with a permanent hardwood dance floor so you and your guests can dance the night away.

The New England Room, a more intimate space located in the renovated 17th century building, retains all the charming historic features one would expect—exposed beam ceilings and lavish furnishings. Up to 50 guests are comfortable in this room, making for a very personalized event.

Wedding Packages

Regardless of which room you choose, all wedding packages include a wedding coordinator to ensure that everything goes smoothly during your 5-hour reception, a
3-course meal with champagne or wine toast, a custom wedding cake from Konditor Meister, and much more. Your wedding photos can’t help but exceed all expectations with the lovely, manicured gardens, the stunning shoreline, or the iconic lighthouse as a backdrop.
